Mahwah, NJ: June 9, 2015 – HIGHGROUND INDUSTRIAL announced today that they have been selected by SCHOTT North America, Inc. to facilitate in the demolition and recovery from their Duryea, Pennsylvania facility fire which started approximately at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
Over 200 firemen and 35 fire departments responded to a four alarm fire at SCHOTT’s plant and warehouse. They fought the blaze for over 11
hours in dangerous weather conditions. The warehouse and part of the production facility was severely damaged. Fire investigators are currently sifting through the buildings.
SCHOTT’s Duryea facility produces industrial and scientific glass products to North America as well as supply the U.S. Department of Defense and Homeland Security. SCHOTT’s North America Research and Development Center is also located on the Duryea property.
HIGHGROUND INDUSTRIAL has been selected to complete both the recovery phase as well as the selective and controlled demolition of the burned areas. David Hoehmann, President of HIGHGROUND INDUSTRIAL, stated, “We are pleased to be a part of the clean-up operation for SCHOTT.
